A Grade Exam Results

15/08/2013

Walthamstow Hall students have marked the school’s 175th anniversary in breath- taking style with a set of record-breaking A level and Cambridge Pre-U results.

The students gained the school’s highest ever proportion of A and A* grades. An amazing 74% of grades were A* or As and 44% of students attained straight A and A* grades across all of their subjects. To put this in context this is four times higher than the national percentage of A and A* grades awarded across the country this summer.

Records were also smashed at A* - B grades with 89% of grades awarded at this level.

Walthamstow Hall students studied an average of 3.9 A level/Pre-U subjects each.

The average UCAS point score was 414 per student, the equivalent of two A*s and an A, with 20% of girls gaining 500 UCAS points or more and one student, gaining a jaw dropping 720 UCAS points.

The spectacular set of results show strength across the whole curriculum. In Physics, a subject studied by 10% of the Sixth Form, every result was an A or A*.

The students will now be taking up their university places including reading Medicine at Oxford and Classics, Natural Sciences and Languages at Cambridge. Other popular university destinations this year include Durham, Exeter and University College London.

An over the moon Mrs Milner said,

“Our excellence in exams has been consistent year-on-year but to see so many records broken in this, our anniversary year, is very special indeed. This is the icing on the cake for what has been a fantastic year of celebration. The girls have had a great time this year and have excelled in the national sporting arena, on the stage and academically in all areas. I am incredibly proud of them and our inspiring teaching staff.”
