Student Support

Year 12 and 13 students are guided through this transition phase to life beyond School by a skilled Sixth Form pastoral team, at the centre of which is their Sixth Form Tutor.  Sixth Formers belong to one of ten tutor groups, each made up of around five Year 13 and five Year 12 students.  This ‘vertical integration’ gives Year 13 students a sense of leadership and responsibility as they become role models for their younger peers and enables Year 12 students to observe at close hand the application process for higher education and/or apprenticeships.  Tutors stay with their tutees throughout their two Sixth Form years.  This continuity, together with the smaller form sizes, enables tutors to develop a great understanding of their students and to provide closely targeted advice and support as students navigate their next steps.

The Head of Sixth Form is also actively involved in supporting students.  Sixth Formers are offered individual interviews to discuss their career and Higher Education plans, and tailored advice is given at every stage.

Sixth Formers also benefit from careers and higher education lectures and workshops with topics including; CV Building, interview skills and talks from experts from across a wide spectrum of industries.  Alumnae, including recent leavers also return to School to speak to Sixth Form students about their career paths.
